Ingredients
- 1/2 Kg Squid/koonthal
- Tsp Ginger paste
- 1 Tsp Garlic paste
- 2 Nos Green chilli (sliced)
- 2 Nos Onion (sliced)
- 2 Spring Curry Leaves
- Tsp Lemon juice
- 1/4 Cup Thinly sliced Coconut
- 1 Tbsp Coriander powder
- 3/4 Tbsp Chilli powder
- 1 Tsp Garam masala
- 1 Tsp Pepper powder
- 1/2 Tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 Tsp Mustard seeds
- 3 Tbsp Coconut oil
- 3/4 Cup Water
- Salt to taste
- 1 Tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
- 5-6 Nos Shallots (crushed)
Instructions
- Wash and clean the Squid/Koonthal well. Cut it into small pieces and keep aside.
- Heat 3 table spoon of cooking oil in a pan and put mustard seeds. Add thinly sliced coconut pieces and fry them for 2 minutes.
- Add garlic paste, ginger paste, shallots crushed and green chillies (sliced). Stir for a few seconds and then add chopped onion. Saute the mixture adding a little salt.
- When the ingredients turn golden brown, reduce the flame to low. Add coriander powder , chilli powder, kashmiri chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala . Stir for a minute.
- Add water, lemon juice and salt to taste. Turn the heat to high and mix well. Now, add the Squid/Koonthal pieces. When it starts boiling, turn the heat to low and cook it covered till done 20 minutes, give stir in between. until the dish is almost dry.
- Open the lid and Add black pepper powder and mix well.
- Squid/Koonthal roast is ready for serving. Transfer the Kanava roast to the serving dish. Garnish it with curry leaves.
